- ● Plain, clear glassware is the best choice — the colour of the drink is the show.
- ● Fresh, large ice melts slower and keeps the glass looking sharp until the end of the night.
- ● Put the dispenser in the middle of the table and let guests pour for themselves; easier for you, warmer for them.
A good drink is half the story; the other half is how you serve it. A few small moves — the right glass, clean ice, one simple garnish — and the same familiar set becomes something else on the table.
Start with the glass
Stemmed glasses for formal occasions, short heavy tumblers for casual get-togethers. You don't need to buy anything fancy — an ordinary glass does the job as long as it's clear and polished. One small thing: rinse the glasses beforehand and dry them with a lint-free cloth so no water spots survive to the table.
Ice — it matters more than you think
Ice that has sat in the freezer for weeks picks up freezer smell, and that goes straight into your guest's glass. Freeze a fresh tray the night before. Large cubes melt slower and make the glass look generous and professional. Want to go one step further? Drop a mint leaf or a piece of fruit into each mould — when the ice lands in the glass, it garnishes itself.
A serving table looks best when the host is sitting at it, not stuck in the kitchen.
The table, and serving from a dispenser
Each CoolMix set fills a roughly 3.5-litre dispenser — which means one round of preparation instead of endless trips between kitchen and living room. Put the dispenser on an accessible corner of the table, arrange the glasses around it, ice bucket and garnishes beside it. Guests fill their own glasses, and you finally get to sit down with everyone.
Four steps to a clean serve
- 1Half an hour before guests arrive, prepare the dispenser and keep it somewhere cool so it settles properly.
- 2Build a serving station: glasses, ice bucket, tongs and garnishes, all next to the dispenser.
- 3Pour the first glass yourself and hand it to a guest — the rest will follow.
- 4Check in once mid-party: ice topped up, garnish not run out. That's it.
